3 How to Find a Good Car Insurance Agent

We see commercials for car insurance every day and the insurance business is booming, but if you are new to buying insurance or are looking to find a new company to work with the process of finding a good car insurance agent can be tough. You need to find someone who you can trust, will listen to your needs and understand what you are looking for, not someone who is trying to sell you on every bell and whistle a company offers. If you are intimidated by the process of finding a new agent, here are four tips on finding a new agent.

1. Ask Your Friends, Family and Co-workers

Anyone who drives (which is essentially all of us) has insurance and has dealt with an agent or agency in some way shape or form. Ask people you trust for recommendations and experiences with agents. You will get a variety of responses, but be sure to press a little on why someone likes the agent or does not like the agent, don’t settle for answers like “he’s nice.” Certainly a nice agent would be preferred but you want a good agent who will give you the best rates, the best coverage and will listen to your needs before recommending a product. I would take a grumpy agent and a good rate any day!

2. Call Insurance Agents You Already Deal With

Maybe you have a life insurance or home owner’s insurance agent that you already deal with and are already comfortable with. Give them a call and see if they deal in car insurance as well. Many insurance agencies span the entire insurance spectrum and often times insurance agencies will offer you a significant discount if you hold multiple policies with them. If you are not comfortable with your agent ask any perspective new agents if they deal in life insurance or home owner’s insurance and transfer all of your policies to the new agency.

3. Interview Car Insurance Agents

If you still can’t find an agent that you are comfortable with pick a few out of the phone book and give them a call. If you can’t get through to them or if they don’t call you back quickly cross them off the list immediately. For those agents that you do talk to ask them background questions like how long they have been in the industry, what types of insurance products they deal in and any kind of certifications or agency affiliations they have. This can be a good way to weed out any agents that are new to the game or not very well qualified. It’s also a good way to see how responsive they will be in the future.

4. Contact an Independent Agent

In your search of a car insurance agent, one of the smartest things you can do is to seek out an independent agent. Independent agents will search a variety of company’s rates and find you the best deal across many companies, rather than other agents who are tied to a specific agency. Put simply, independent agents work for you while other agents work for their company.

I personally knew an FBI agent who drove an Isuzu Rodeo SUV, which seemed like a good choice, all things considered.

I called several independent agents & asked for quotes & info on the company for each quote I received.

My video company is just down the street from there.

Your biggest problem with unemployment will be your long long long stories .
No human can follow that much chatter .

Shorten it down to ONE sentence , LIKE
Unable to accept job due to requirement to use personal vehicle for company business .

If they still want more details then explain with 2 or 3 more sentences but NEVER that essay / thesis like thing you submitted here .

If you insist on communicating in such a verbose fashion ,
Your claims will be lost in limbo until your 80 years old .
And the subsequent stuff will go with it , like this weeks claims .

And if you do call , find a way to shorten that chatter too
or else you will NEVER get anything done .
Because the humans will ALWAYS say they have to get back to you later ,
After they take vacation to recover from the yak yak yak yak yak yak yak the yak yak yak yak yak yak yak .

Now , go practice ONE sentence responses .
good luck

OK, a guy with at least one at fault accident, two license suspensions, a reckless driving, and a whole bunch of speeding tickets, wants the same rate on insurance as someone who's got a clean record.

Ain't gonna happen.

On the bright side, your credit score can affect your rates, too. So on the chance that you've got a 750 or better, well, you STILL won't pay the same rate as a clean driver, but it's better than someone with two suspensions, a reckless, an atfault and a buncha tickets with a 500.

You've done the play part, now you've got the pay part. Sorry, the only way out is to sell your car and take cabs/busses for a few years.

Help yourself – you can check your quotes in internet, for example here – autoinsurance.maclenet.com

This is a typical Insurance ploy, don't fall for it. If you are unhappy with the offer take them to court. Your insurance must fight it, don't get stuck with a bill.

did the police charge anyone? if the other person ws charged than i really am clueless as to what her ins co is doing.
i would definately contact the state insurance commisioner.
that is crazy.

You are protected under paypal. Since they were selling "insurance" I am sure your not the only customer they have scammed. The people who post on here are the ones running this scam… It could take paypal up to another 30 days if you do not keep on them. You need to call there customer service number and talk to a person. Keep doing this until you get results.

When I moved I made up my own list and did everything myself. I'm a pretty organized person as it is, so nothing got left behind, but one of these lists would have bee helpful. Good luck to you!

P.S. I used to live in Colorado – you're gonna love it there!
