Elder care, sometimes referred to as long-term elderly care, includes a wide range of services that are provided over an extended period of time to people who need help to perform normal activities of daily living because of cognitive impairment or loss of muscular strength or control. Elder care can include rehabilitative therapies, skilled nursing care, palliative care, and social services, as well as supervision and a wide range of supportive personal care provided by family caregivers and/or home health care agencies. Elder care may also include training to help older people adjust to or overcome many of the limitations that often come with aging. If appropriate, elder care can at best be provided in the home first.

Where do we start when looking for resources for elder care for a loved one? Resources that can help the elderly stay in their own home are the first place to start. A variety of independent living services are now available to help the elderly care for themselves in their own home despite their changing physical needs. This may help, delay or totally avoid moving into an assisted living or nursing home.

Help answer the question about home health

What is the pay scale for a home health care worker?
A friend wants to hire me to care for (i.e., changing his diaper, bathing, and feeding him) her aged father but I don't know how much to charge. I will be working in her home for six hours and I live in Illinois. I don't work for a private agency (but I have experience as a health aide). This time I will be working for myself. Is there a website that I can go to to figure out how much to charge her?

All the best!/

You must target a place where there is a high number of seniors. Checking the census may help you in this matter. Ideally, you must target large cities. In order to legally operate, you must get a license from the state for you home health care agency. At start, you may hire workers with low salary to manage expenditure. It is advisable to do a background check before you hire them.Take up private medical insurance. This will assure your agency is able to meet with individual insurer necessities.

The problam is government interferance and conflict of interest in health care. I mean, how can a government be allowed to represent health care issues for the american people” when the government itself is heavily invested in the pharmaceutical companies owned and regulated by the same banks it represents and works for?????????????

Exactly! The FDA are whores for big pharma! Disgraceful!

The problem is not “free health care”. There is no such thing. The problem is requiring everyone to pay for something YOU don’t want. I have spent my life living and eating healthy so that I don’t get sick. I have not been sick in 10 years. The health bill that is being proposed in Washington means that I and every person who spends their own hard earned money to not get sick and not need to pay for healthcare, now have to pay for the healthcare of all those who have taken no such responsability

This is full of more demands for bans, requirements and government regulation than we have now!! Just different ones. More bureaucratic intervention on his terms. The proper way to eat and the need for exercise has been drummed into us already—we’ve heard it all our lives. It’s not new—many of us just ignore it. How can you make people do it?. As to mandatory vaccines, how many of us would have gotten polio, smallpox, etc., if they hadn’t been mandatory.

Put up business cards in the Spanish restauraunts, grocery stores and other places Spanish people go.

An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure is so true in all aspects of life. Examples: Instead of new energy sources; what about just drastically conserving practices

no a cna makes more b.c they have more work to do

24 out of 25 of the most industrialsed nations have Universal Health Care. It is far far cheaper to adminster and means that every sick person is treated. I have to say that we in Britain found it highly amusing to see people marching in Washington demanding NOT to have free health care.

keep dreaming that something might change. the people that make billions of dollars are so freaking scary that i doubt obama or the american congress have balls big enough to stand up to these people. they don’t care what you think – they agree with you but they are so freaking scared that something might happen to them or their family that they will never do anything like destroy FDA, FDC, and pharmaceutical companies. that GUY at the top of this business will get really ticked off and boom…

PICC line care will be done by the "high tech" nurse or IV nurse. Well, PICC line is really nothing and dressing is easy to be changed.
Most agencies ask for one year in Med/Surg. Based on your info, you will be OK!
Anyhow, there is no guarantee hours…if you are a staff nurse, you must agree to work 9 to 5. Of course, no nurses will stay in the field for 8 hours long. In NYC, it is 25 patients/week and it is a 9 to 5 job. Good luck!

I will forward you the information on

Check the website for your State. Department of Education normally is the issuing agent for licenses.

The problem is government involvement in health care (through the tax system giving incentives towards an employer-based insurance system, the FDA, etc.). Whether it is the FDA suppression of natural prevention and cures or the promotion of Pharma “medicine”, it is clear that the solution is not going to come from the government, and if they get involved even more than they are now, they only stand to make things worse.

while they are basically the same,, a home health care agency most likely emphasises more the sitter/companion type of help(someone who comes in, light housekeeping, companionship etc),, which is really not nursing, they also offer nursing visits,,,,,,, a nursing care agency may offer LPN's or less skilled care also, to give baths etc,, but their main focus often is on skilled nursing care

Depends on what country, which state or province, and the company you work for, but $25 – $35,000 Cdn is probably average.

Daily suffering has been allowed to develop since the 1930′s. We the people have allowed it to grow to the volume it has.
All of the players mentioned have been very instrumental in removing billions of population in our world through planned approaches and guess what it is working and the suffering is catastrophic.
